SideWinder's music...

54 year old, retired lifetime night club player, writing/recording tunes for possible commercial release. Did all the trax alone at home. Using tuned down Strat for bass (don't own a bass today), which is lacking, but does make for an interesting sound (at times).

Come Over Here

A stab at writing a medium, upbeat radio worthy piece, with a female vocalist in mind. There's an ending drum machine blurb and a flat vocal note in a spot, but all in all, pretty alright, I think.

Hear's the words:

Come over here beside me, and tell me where have you been?
You say your man's done made some other plans, and now you're out . . .
but without him?
Come over here beside me. I'd like to get with you . . .
and we could do all them things like we used to do . . .
me and you.

I've been missin' sweet kissin' . . . the way our lips fit I never wanna quit it.
Let's watch the sunrise up in each others eyes, come on, baby, over here.
(come on . . . if your comin' )

Come over here beside me, don't ya think you been gone enough?
You're lookin' hot, I'd like another shot at your love.
can't get enough.
Come over here beside me, that's all I ask of you.
The stars are bright in the sky and the moon's brand new,
n' made for two!

I've been missin' sweet kissin' . . . the way our lips fit, I never wanna quit it,
We'll have a good time, downin' the moon shine, come on, baby, over here.
(come on . . . if you're comin' )

Come over here beside me, and grab a hold of my hand,
Let's take a chance on romance, baby love me again, let's love again
Come over here beside me, back where you belong. The night is young,
and I'm ready now to drive you home . . . get you alone.

I've been missin' sweet kissin'. The way our lips fit, don't never wanta quit it.
I'll watch the sunrise, in baby blue eyes. Come on baby, over here.
I've been missin' sweet kissin'. The way our lips fit, I never wanta quit it.
Let's share a love bite, out in the the moon light. Come on, baby, over here.
Come on baby, over here.
(Come on . . . if you're comin' )

Everything You Never Said You'd Be

This song I wrote in the early 80's and finally demoed last autumn . . . it's country flavored, with some pretty cool twin fills, I think?

Hear's the words:

You told me you'd always be true,
You even said you'd like a kid, or two . . .
you said, a one man woman is what you'd always be,
then you said that one man was me.

You told me we'd never, fall apart,
then you swore you'd never break my heart.
You said that I was taken, was yours eternally,
that it would be forever, you and me.

But you . . . Cheated, then you lied, and then you hurt me.
You did all the things you said you'd never do.
Honey, I hope you're happy, livin' without me-e-e,
You're everything you never said you'd be
(C'mon heartache)

You told me you'd never walk away,
and I believed in every word you'd say . . .
you said I need not worry . . . on love I could depend,
and that a love like ours could never end.

You told me your wedding vows were true,
and I stood by each word I swore to you,
You said we'd be together, until death we'd never part
and I believed in "we" right from the start.

But you . . . Cheated, then you lied, and then you hurt me.
Did all the things you said you'd never do.
Honey, I hope you're happy, livin' without me-e-e
You're everything you never said you'd be.

Yea, You're everything you never said you'd be.

I Was Counting On U

I know this needs re-cutting, due to the buried lyrics and flubbed drum-machine ending (among other things)
Written maybe 20 years ago and demoed just last autumn, I've always believed this tune to be "interesting" . . . what d'ya think?

Hear the words:

There's just something bout' the way we made love, you know how I feel.
There's just something bout' them lies in your eyes. somehow they looked so,
so real (surreal)
You say, "Who'd wanna give their love to a married man"
When I said "Please do" you said "Please don't"
Well, I'll try, but I don't know that I can.

Cuz' I was countin' on you, to take me away.
I was countin' on you to help me escape.
I was countin' on you to toss me a line.
I was countin' on you and me, baby
I was countin' on you.

There's just something bout' them long, lonely nights, them long, lonely days,
I spent sittin' by the phone again n' dreamin' my love life away.
Feel like a train goin' nowhere, somewhere on a railroad track.
Babe, I'll always be waitin' . . . waitin' for you and wishin' that you
would come back . . . I was countin' . . . ie:

If I'd Seen You First

This tune's about craving the forbidden fruit of a bandmates tree . . . not a good idea, nor rare in the music biz.

Hear are the words . . . Enjoy?

If I'd seen you first, I'd made you mine,
cuz' I love you best, after all of this time.
When I see you walk in, not hand in hand,
oh I'd hold on tightly if I were that man.

I see him downtown, I search for your eyes,
but you'll never hear when he's spreadin' his lies,
and leaves with some girl, that I would touch,
oh, how I wish, babe, that that I'd seen you first.

If I'd seen you first, then you'd be my girl,
forever my lover, forever my world.
he'd not come along, you'd not be his wife . . .
If I'd seen you first, you'd believe in this guy.

I see you're alone, can I buy you a round
How long has it been since we've really sat down,
and whispered those words, and stolen that touch,
Lord knows we both wish that I'd seen you first.

It's Ok, I'm Ok

This song came about on a warm April night in 2005 as I strolled bare-footed to an all night market . . . with my footfalls providing the cadence.
I got a little outta sync (stepped on a pebble!) during the bridge. It's a bluesy little number. Enjoy?

    It's Okay . . . I'm Okay

I love you but somehow I can't love you . . .
I need you, but know you'll never, ever really need me . . .
I want, you to know before you turn and go . . .
that it's okay, I'm okay.

I see you each night that I dream . . .
In my dreams, you're still, lovin' me . . .
and though that's not so, I want you to know
that it's ok, I'm okay

It's okay that I may never find another,
I'm okay, and I've never, ever told told you no lies,
hold on to my hand just as long as you can,
before you walk away. . . and don't say good bye

I'll miss you, and know someday you're gonna miss me . . .
and I'll always crave, your sweet lips, the way they've kissed me,
If you're goin' . . . go on ahead and go,
but there's one thing you've gotta know,
it's Okay . . . I'm Okay . . .
yea . . . It's okay . . . I'm okay.
